INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY FEE, STUDENT ACTIVITIES FEE
AND LABORATORY AND CLINICAL SURCHARGES

Information Technology Fee

        For 2000-2001 the information technology fee that is charged to all undergraduate and graduate students at all locations was increased by $15 per semester. The fee is $115 per semester for students registering for nine (9) or more credits, $83 for students registering for five (5) to less than nine (9) credits and $39 for students registering for less than five (5) credits.

        The information technology fee does not apply to graduate students enrolled only in 601-611 thesis preparation courses.

Student Activities Fee

        For 2000-2001 the student activities fee that is currently charged to all undergraduate and graduate students at all locations was increased by $1 per semester. For Altoona, Erie, Berks, Lehigh Valley, Beaver, Wilkes-Barre and University Park, the fee is $38 per semester. For Delaware, Hazleton, Mont Alto, New Kensington, and Shenango campuses, the fee is $33 per semester. For Abington, DuBois, Fayette, Harrisburg, McKeesport, Schuylkill, Worthington Scranton and York campuses, the fee is $28 per semester. The fee continues to be charged at lower rates for students registering for less than nine credits per semester. The student activities fee charges by campus are shown on Schedule 3.

Laboratory and Clinical Surcharges

        For 2000-2001 the laboratory and clinical surcharge was increased by $12 per semester to $255 for full-time upper division undergraduate students and graduate students majoring in engineering and engineering technology, earth and mineral sciences, architecture, landscape architecture,acoustics, bioengineering, quality manufacturing management, division of science at locations other than University Park, and the occupational therapy program at Penn State Mont Alto. Furthermore, the surcharge for nursing students at University Park was increased to $832 per semester for 2000-2001.

        The laboratory and clinical surcharges for 2000-2001 are shown on Schedule 4.

        In addition, beginning in 2001-2002, laboratory and clinical surcharges will be extended to upper division and graduate students in Information Sciences and Technology majors at all locations. The surcharge for these students will be $750 per semester. Minors in Information Sciences and Technology and related programs will be charged a one-time fee of $750 to be paid on entrance to the minor. These new rates also will be extended to baccalaureate and graduate majors related to Information Sciences and Technology at various locations. The majors include: Computer Engineering and Computer Science at University Park; Management Information Systems and Computer Engineering at Penn State Erie; and Information Systems and Computer Science at Penn State Harrisburg. The minors include: Management Information Systems at University Park and Computer Science and Management Information Systems at Penn State Erie. Schedule 5 provides further detail.
